Rhine
the Mermaid, 17"
I decided I wanted to make an art doll based on Moby Dick. It was to be somewhat interpretive and I thought, "What better way to idealize a whale's form than with a mermaid body?" So Rhine was created to draft up a pattern for my Moby Dick art doll. I finished her in time to send her away so she could be put on display with other Flying Phoebe dolls for a local textiles show. She's my first to be put on display at a show. Her pattern is available to buy.
Platypus, 14"
There was a letter in Soft Dolls and Animals! magazine, requesting more animal patterns. The editor asked that readers submit patterns. I decided to take up that call for patterns and created this platypus. This pattern will be available to buy at a future date.
